Tom Eggers, 56, of Hillsboro, passed away on Saturday, March 14th, 2009. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather "Papa", brother, uncle and friend. Tom met the love of his life, Jackie Lynn Prostek, in 1969 and they married the following year. Couples who knew them were inspired by their love for each other. Tom truly cared for others, not just with empathy, but with action. He helped organize and donated time and talents to many causes to benefit the elderly, the homeless, people with disabilities and the environment. Tom's family describes him as being protective, safe, exciting, strong, intelligent, knowledgeable, bold, loving, with integrity, witty, reliable, "ohana, passionate, compassionate, "Wiffle-Waffle", and most importantly, soul mate. Tom is survived by his wife, Jackie of Hillsboro; son, Jason and daughter-in-law, Becky Eggers of Woodburn; and daughter, Melanie and son-in-law, Kory Roedel of Hillsboro. Tom took great pride in his seven grandchildren, Rita, Olivia, Jonah, Hope, Eli, Connor and Hank. Tom considered himself blessed to also have two additional children he adopted into his heart, Brian and Ginger O'Hern, and their two daughters, Darien and Briley, of Montana. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Cliff Eggers.
